The elusive bristlecone pine. We missed them due to a closed road and four miles of deep snow in eastern California, but were lucky enough to find this one and a few of his more lush, younger brethren hanging on the side of Rainbow Point. These guys have been known to live more than 5,000 years, though this particular crew are estimated at 1500 yrs old. Long before that even, they lose most of their leaves and essentially become a sort of living snag. #bristlecone #ancient #moretocome (at Rainbow Point Overlook, Bryce Canyon National Park)

Farewell Zion, you’ve been lovely. If you want to go through the park from southwest to the east exit, and you’re towing an #airstream, you’ve got to pay $15 and they block an entire 1mi. winding tunnel off just for you. Stay tuned… (at Zion National Park)
